A Warm Welcome
Dr Toby Musgrave has a passion for garden design and garden history which began at a very early age and shows no signs of abating. An independent scholar since 1994 Toby is an international authority on garden history and design.
He shares his passion and knowledge as an author - 10 books and counting, a lecturer - in the classroom at DIS, aboard Seabourn Venture (where he is also a submersible pilot!) with Botanica, on television and radio, and online.
As a garden designer (more here) Toby has created gardens in the UK, the USA, India and in Denmark. Here he lives and gardens one of the historic De Runde Haver.

New Book
I am excited and proud to announce that my new book The Kitchen Garden has been launched as part of Phaidon’s Spring 2026 Catalogue and is available to pre-order HERE. For the longest time the kitchen garden has been - at last in my opinion - unfairly overshadowed by its more glamorous ornamental cousin. My aim in writing The Kitchen Garden is to reveal the glory of the kitchen garden as a productive work of art; and through the beautifully illustrated collection of over 50 of the world’s most inspirational kitchen gardens, to show how diverse and lovely this edible art form is. I should also like to give a big shout out and thanks to Aaron Bertelsen (@aaronbertelsenofficial) for his Foreword. |
